Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course — 300 Hours

Advanced Professional Training in Ashtanga Yoga

TAYSP offers a 300-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course designed for practitioners and teachers who wish to move beyond the foundations of yoga teaching and develop a deeper, more confident and professional approach to teaching Ashtanga Yoga.

The course takes place in person at our Ashtanga shala in Chalong, Phuket, Thailand, in a small group of up to five students.

The 300-hour program includes the complete foundation of our 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training, followed by an additional 100 hours of advanced study, practical training and teaching development.

This is not simply a longer version of the 200-hour course. The additional time allows students to move from learning and practicing the techniques to developing the skills required to teach them professionally.

The training takes place over four weeks, providing substantially more time for personal practice, observation, teaching practice, feedback and deeper exploration of the method.

The path

From Foundation to Advanced Teaching

The first part of the program follows the foundation of the 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training.

Students develop a strong understanding of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and its principles through daily Mysore and Led practice, breathing exercises, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, Art of Adjustment, methodology, sequencing, anatomy, Yoga Therapy, yoga philosophy, meditation, yoga psychology, teaching ethics and other essential areas of yoga education.

The purpose of this foundation is to establish the knowledge and practical skills necessary to begin teaching Ashtanga Yoga.

The additional 100 hours take this foundation further.

Instead of simply introducing additional subjects, the advanced part of the course focuses on how to teach them.

Students receive extended practical training in teaching, observation, communication, adaptation and working with individual practitioners.

The Advanced 100 Hours

Art of Adjustment hands-on training during Ashtanga teacher training in PhuketHands-on skills

Advanced Art of Adjustment

Art of Adjustment becomes a significantly deeper and more intensive component of the 300-hour program.

Students go beyond learning individual adjustments and develop the ability to observe and understand different bodies, levels of practice and individual limitations.

The training includes detailed work with alignment, modifications, contraindications and therapeutic considerations, as well as the appropriate application of hands-on adjustments for different practitioners.

Students have substantially more time to practice adjustments, receive corrections and develop the sensitivity, precision and confidence required to work safely with students in a Mysore or Led environment.

The emphasis is on learning to see the body, understand what is needed and choose an appropriate way to assist, rather than applying adjustments mechanically.

Pranayama teacher training group practice at TAYSP Phuket, ThailandTeacher training

Pranayama Teacher Training

In the 200-hour foundation, students are introduced to Pranayama through theory and personal practice.

Within the advanced 300-hour training, Pranayama becomes a dedicated teacher-training discipline.

Students deepen their understanding of the principles, techniques, anatomy, effects and contraindications of Pranayama and learn how to structure and lead Pranayama practices for others.

The training includes:

  • principles and philosophy of Pranayama
  • anatomy and physiological aspects of breathing practices
  • different Pranayama techniques and variations
  • benefits and contraindications
  • modifications according to individual needs
  • the therapeutic application of selected techniques
  • sequencing and structuring a Pranayama session
  • verbal instruction and communication
  • supervised teaching practice

The objective is to develop the ability to teach Pranayama safely, clearly and responsibly, rather than simply perform the techniques personally.

Yoga Nidra and meditation practice at TAYSP shala, PhuketTeacher training

Yoga Nidra Teacher Training

The advanced training explores the structure and methodology of Yoga Nidra, preparation and introduction, voice management, language, pauses and intonation, timing, safety and appropriate modifications.

Students also learn how to respond to different experiences and reactions that may arise during the practice and how to communicate with practitioners before and after a session.

Most importantly, students have the opportunity to practice leading Yoga Nidra sessions and receive feedback, developing the confidence and practical skills required to teach the practice independently.

Yoga Therapy training: teacher working with an individual student in PhuketDeeper understanding

Yoga Therapy

The 300-hour program also provides a deeper exploration of Yoga Therapy and its application within the teaching environment.

Students develop a broader understanding of how yoga practices may be adapted according to individual physical and psychological conditions, limitations and needs.

This knowledge supports a more responsible approach to teaching and helps students understand when a practice should be modified, adapted or approached with additional care.

Practice teaching

Extended Teaching Practice

Supervised teaching practice and feedback in yoga teacher training, Phuket

One of the most important differences between the 200-hour and 300-hour programs is the amount of time dedicated to actual teaching.

The additional 100 hours provide considerably more opportunities to:

  • teach and observe real practices
  • practice giving clear verbal instructions
  • work with different levels of practitioners
  • practice adjustments and modifications
  • receive individual feedback
  • analyze teaching situations
  • refine communication and teaching presence
  • develop the ability to adapt the practice to individual students

The goal is not simply to complete a required number of training hours, but to use the additional time to become a more experienced and capable teacher.

Is it for you?

Who Is This Program For?

The 300-hour course is intended for practitioners and yoga teachers who want to develop beyond the foundational level and dedicate more time to the study and teaching of Ashtanga Yoga.

It is particularly suitable for those who:

  • have completed a 200-hour teacher training or have equivalent foundational training
  • want significantly more practical teaching experience
  • wish to deepen their Art of Adjustment skills
  • want to become qualified to teach Pranayama and Yoga Nidra
  • want to develop a more individualized approach to teaching
  • are ready for an intensive four-week immersion in Ashtanga Yoga

This program is for those who are looking not simply for more hours, but for more depth, more practice and more professional development.

Format

Four Weeks of Immersion

The extended four-week format allows the training to develop progressively.

There is more time to practice, study, teach, observe, receive feedback and integrate the material.

Rather than compressing advanced subjects into a short additional module, the 300-hour format gives students the space required to develop real practical skills.

  1. Foundation
  2. Practice
  3. Teaching
  4. Feedback
  5. Refinement

This progression is at the heart of the 300-hour training.
